All this trouble and bother with the Government was foreseen while
under discussion in was earlier stages and the Resolution the Director of Public Works refers to was specially worded to obviate, so far as possible, all difficultles. In the future, it was submitted before being put to the Meeting to the Government and the Reso- lution in its present-shape was approved by the Government. The fund was never intended to pay for the construction of the entire road from Kennedy Town to Aberdeen as Mr. ORNSBY would make us belleve. Nobody was fool enough to suppose that the entire expense of some six miles of road could be covered by public subscription. The fund was only to pay for the construction of the FIRST SECTION of that road and the Govern- ment pledged itself to do the rest.
