The first applica∙lan, to be considered was that of F. J. F. Bedford for the transfer of his Publican's Licence to sell and retail intoxicating quors on the premises late a House No. ga. Queen's Road West, under the sign of "The Weilern Hotel," to one James Dadd,"

There was no Police objecṭlon and the guarantors were J. R. Caple, of the Victoria Dispensary, and Radecker & Co.

Mr. Hasthouse, sailcltor, who appeared on behalf of Dadd said that his cilent Ead served for 18 years in the Naval Police force. He had at one time been Quartermaster in the Chinese Maritime Customs Service.. Pievious to that he was an AB in the Navy. He was so years of age and had certificates extending over a period of 30 years. He hid a certicate hom Commodore Holland which was for 18 years service December, 1879 to last year in the Royal Navy and the character of Didd was represented as being very good. Dedford was leaving Hong- kong on account of ill-health and was desirous to transfer the license.
