HINDOO MONEY-LENDING,
In the Summery Jurisdiction of the Supreme Count -day before his Lordship the Palene Indue (Mr. A. G. Wise) Farman Allee, a busher living at Kewlocn, proceeded against Nrsee Rudeer, ex band Sergeant in the Hongkong Regiment, for the recovery of $co alleged to be due ar morey lant. Mr. H. W Locker appeared for plaintiff and Mr. M. W. Slade for the defendant. Plataff in there was no bill given, bar be amply lent the money as defendant's request on the understanding that he was to be paid in Joom a bad since asked for repayment and delendrat wait he would not pay him. He bad bern derling with defendant for the past five years and took no receips from him. Mr. Slade produced a letter from plutotiff's Solfchiors in which it was sad the money had been depnited with defendant for sale keeping, plafatiff said that was a mistake, as the konty was lent. In the letter was also a claim for 54 rupees remitted from India to defendant for plaintiff. The latter claim did not appear in the present case, it money lent to another Hindoo for whom delen- dent was security. Plaintiff hed lent a native officer in the Regiment $300 and task so pro- missory note but he was repaid the sum Plain tiff bad deposited 1oms, money with a man who lived with him and had since died of plagne, Defendant fold the dead man's brother to charge plaintiff with stealing $500 from a b.x belonging lo deceased, Pistouff was anested and ralessed roon alter. He deuled that he had offered three band men and a watch man s bribe to appear as witarases agalant the defendant and barked His Lordship that the witnesses stoold be sworn on the Koran. The case was adjourned till next Friday and so order was made for the examina- tlon de bens esse of the defendant, who has to provide $175 as secoily,
