THE BROUGH COMEDY.
COMPANY.
"THE CASE OF REBELLIOUS SULAN.” Mr. Brough with his talented company scored another big success at the Theatre, Royal last night, when Henty Arthur Jones' comedy, "The Case of Rebellions Susas," was produced. The house, as has been the case all through the senson, was filled to all paste, and the applauso that the performers received amply festified the appreciation of the suslence. In some respects the plece is a "problem play" and treats, fa humorous fashion, of an up-to-date-marriage. Lady Saran Harbin, the heroine of the story, bas come upon some previous laches of her husband and gets lato a stato of xcvolt. She tu determined to leave him, although her uncle, Sle Richard Kato, a Q.C.. with 25 years of Divorce Court practice urges her against such action. Lady Susan and a friend Mrs. Quesnel leave Englard for Caire, and there she has

with Laclen Edensor, The QC appears on the ceas little later, and he has got a position for Lucien in New Zealand. Seeing how the ground fles the old gentleman seeks to hurry the young follow away so as to prevent" people talking."" In the meanime Susan had arranged to fly with Lucien but the avuneolaí solziiro upset the plan and the "gay lovier" had to go. Sir Richard gives her fadyship a choice "of alternatives to go back to her husband, to go her uncle's residence or remain at his hotel with him. Satan rebels and only becomes amenable when Richard blots at un Incident in Cairo:" | She goes with him to his residence and 1000 afterwards receivas a piece of Lucien's wedding cake and a ring she had given him. Tad glamour having disappeared the rebellious one returns to her hubby and they agres to let by gones ba bygones. The action of the piece Throughout fa bright and animated and the clever Barcasm with which the "New woman" is treated is very entertaining. The other characters all help to sustain the interest, notably Sir Joseph and Lady Darby who make a very fine set-off to the heroine in illustrating matrimonial life of the old times. A Mrs. Pybus, and her husband also contalbete largely to the fun of the plece especially whan the question of woman's Ruperterity crops up. As the dignified and factful old-Q.C. Mr. Brough had a congenial part and be won loud and prolonged applause on many occassions. The power and feelog that he brought to bear on the character proclaim him's finished and most versallie artist and he carried the sympathy of his audience with him from first to last. Mr. Brough once more displayed her splendid talent as Lady Sosa, and the delineated the fickle creature in most aztitila siyle. Her fine stage pre- since and her mugulfcent voice kelpad to make the character a most striking coe. When lofant ated with her husband, or flirting with Lucien, her ucilag was very natural and the bearty up- plause that she received was certainly well- earned. Mr. Roberts has not had many, oppor. funities of displaying his talent as a comedian | bat the gead impressien he made in the "Amerons" was well borne out last night when
