THE PRIDE OF THE RUISLAM NAVE,
Naval architectural bonuty is malising quantity in the op-in-Jate warship and the big Russia alser Rossia off..a no exception to the rule. She does not "bandsome" any more than our own Powerful and she also lacks the touch of nautical picturesquenes that the Kurik had In her two square-iigged,mants. There is no thing in her appearance to attract the devoted of Clark Russell or Ma..yatt, but when you come alongside her and theis big black sides bulating with guns are toweling over you like a 4-storey house, you begin lof:el whataihing a naval fight In the fators means A Telegraph reporter made a tour of the Roarin yesterday and was very courteously received by the officers on duty. Hh particular guide was a natly little sub-learenant whese modesty forbids the the pabiication of his name. Like many of his brother cffces the sub-lieutenant spoke very good Engllah and when it raa skort there was always the areful French to fall back upon. On boarding the Rerifa and coming, to the upper deck a great space was found that at once suggested all kinds of shipboard pastimes. In fact had it not been for the big breach-loading and machine guns peeping out through the bulwarks one could have fancied he was on board an old fashioned ship of the Rae. For wid is the s.eeting bridge with all kinds of mechanical contrivances for directing the course of the ship, her lights, &c. and the flying bridges that extend an ether side give a fine view of the vessel forn and air. fest forward of the bare is the foremast with two "lops," one six mill quick fire guns and the alber with a search light. He advocated a more effective control of military The game was very fast at the outset and Dexpenditure by the Indian Council had a chance of scaring right away but their inalde right made a bid miss. They kept taj their opponents half and Reges their contre ter- ward made a splendid shot for goal but it was kept out. Then the R.A got away but one of their left forward's spoilt the chance by oflide play. The Lancs were playing beter football than their opponents but wete lamentably work in front of goal as again they had a fine opportunity but could do no better than gain a corner. The Artillerymen started and played through the first half with only ten men which was a considerable handicap and most of the play was in their half though when they did get down they were much more dangerous than D who bad masy easy chances which through bad shooting and over anxiety they missed. The Lanca afer a while managed to got the ball in the net but off side was given against them. This did not discharge them however as in a few minutes afterwards their outside right shot through and gave them a legitimato polāt.
They conilaued to have slightly the best of matters though there was very little in it and the 25th were very dangerous whenever they got down the field. The Artillery got down and put in a shot from the left wing and the goal keeper instead of carching, tried to kick clear but sent the ball against an opponent, from whence it rebounded into the net. Immediately after this D Co.'s lit back with plenty of time to clear dallied with the ball tatil the opposing right wing hustled him off and in a twinkling they had it through again. Both these points were presentable and were due to very loose play.

The Hospital was being paloted yesterday and the two patients we saw were for the time being accommodated on the deck outside. There were two of them, big copper concerov, and "the cup that cheers" seemed to be available at all hours. Most people ashore will say that the Russ likes something stronger sometimes and they are not wrong. If you reach the ups ar deck somewhere about 8 bells you will see two big tabs of rum aft and the Naval authorities of Rasila allow their tara to take considerably morg of the good old Jamaica than any others we have seen, The Rass comes up to the tab takes a dipperial, wipes bis mouth on his sleeve and takes three of four more and goes away a happy as can be.

D. Company lost the game through wretched shooting and the bad play of their goalkeeper and lefback in giving their first two goals. With the exception of this mistake both backs played well as also did each of the haiver. The forwards excepting the outside right whe spoilt himself by being over eager were good in the open and combined well, Regan in the centre being the plek bat la front of goal they seemed to completely lose their heads.
