From this report it appears evident that Cap- tan McFịe, who naturally wished to "aight" Lameck Light, had ja alter bis course consider. ably and draw into the land to get a view of the Light. He doubiles intended to pars it about 15 to 20 miles distant in order to mike bit course farther south well clear of The Brothers ((slands) That was not to be, though, and be was compelled to make the land, pasting the Light shoot 3 milles distent, and it is probable that as it was a clear ri, ht he could see the high || Jandon which the th house stands almost är distinctly as the electon lantern. Fortunately It was not a stormy night with heavy showers of rain falling every now and then, Far this, however, the lightkeepers or the ghilom en gincar amployed by the Imperial Marfilme Cditoms are not to be thanked. It is their day to keep all lights in good working order and give due wareing to mariners when they know a fight is not in proper condition and cau not be relied on to fub at cert to intervals.
We find it'stated in the "List of Chinese Lightbonses pabilised by order of the I- autopecia General of Customs that Lemne Light is on the summit of a high lilead, that it is a Exed light y sible all round and should ha vial- ble in clear weather an, miiếp. Et is very diacreditible to he responsible porties that Captain' McFee should have had ocenion to make the report which form the subject of this warning tɔ, tax- iner for the traffic past the Lamockery, considerable and we can only hope therefore that the light, which was first lit in 1874, will be potti perfect waskingvörder as thon as possible.
