THE many Hongkong filends of Mus Eisle Adair will be sorry to hear that she had a "bad tora" while performing at the Calterion Theatre, Sydney, on July 4th. By to-day's Australian mail we learn ibṛt Miss Adalt and her company were giving an "American night" on July 4th, After responding to four encores for her songs Miss Adair came on for te: skirt dance (and she f's described as the best ever seen in Sydney). In the fourth dance, the charming danseuse fainted and fell heavily on the stage. The cartaln was rang down and the audience, were dismissed. Mlis Adair remained in a swoon until after abe had been taken to hår hotel, and was next day able to rent. Dr. Fluichi was in attendance, and ated that absolute rest, was ausential. It was eldent that Miss Adair would not be able to appear for some time. Without her the show would be empty, and the management had to close the season. "This is the more to be regretted," ways the Evening News," as the show was one of the best of his kind in many respects Sydney has |reen. Should the company be able to reopen for a farewell season, they may rest astired of excellent business,,and, as a matter of fact, the meilts of the entertainment were only beginning to be known when the untimely and came."
THE QUEEN'S ROAD CATASTROPHE
MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY,
Ad erquiry into the death of the men who lost their lives through the collapse of balldings in Queen's Road West on the morning of the 28th Inst, was held at the Maglairacy to-day by Mr. H. E. Wadehouse.
Dr. Bell gare evidence that he had examined two bodies at the Mortuary on the 18th last,
Das was that of Un Ming, aged about 23 years, and who had died from asphyxia. The other bedy was that Lan Tai Sing, aged 50. Death was ceased by shock in his case; bis right leg
was broken, be had two severe scalp wounds, and the wall of the chest was crushed la.
Sergeant John Gaald deposed that he wan called to Nor. 548 and 350, Queen's Hand West, on the mornig of the 28th lost. He found the buildings bad collapsed and herescued to persons. At 15'30 he saw the bodies of deceased and The knees of Lax helped to remove them. Tal Sing were first seen under bricks and sub- Bish, and a little distance away the forehead of Un Ming was noticed. They were both clothed and were quite dard. He noticed no wounds on them. Witness sent them to the mortuary.
