The Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce kindly informs un that the ports of Mokpo and Chansapo la Korea will shortly be open to for | "eign trade. He writes:-"This Chamber Icaros through the courtesy of the Government, that telegram has been received by His Excellency the Governor from Her Britonale Majesty's Minister at Peking stating that the Korean Government has officially notified him that the ports of Chonaopo and Mokpo will be open to foreign trade-from the sat October next."
Mokpo is to Chulla province. It is the centre of a pretty large grain trade (chiefly rice), and is situsted near the mouth of the Yang River lo the S. W, corner of Koran. There is more ihan ane Chepaupo la Kores, but presumably It Is the port of that name in Pisgyang province, in the N.W., that is to became a treely port.
