The Quadrilles were most interesting, the oprolog numbers iliustrating the movements of troops la camps, followed by the alarm, and the arival of English, Irish and Scottish Brigades playing mailona! marches. The realism of the affalz was enbanced by a brisk fro of blank by the volunteers with their carbines, and the spectators gave their appro- balion in frequent and hexity applause.

While the design of the maseam is the educa tion of the Chinese, we hope that it may be made a profitable method of advertisement for the exhibitors, as the name and address of the maker will be placed on each arilcle bolt in. English and Chinese, and it is hoped that the Chinese will be induced to invest in many of the articles exhibited, for we consider that system af eðnce- tion defective which does not enable the pupils to put into operation the knowledge they have acquired.

We are anxious to have thle matter brought to the atletion of manufacturers, and hape that | American exporte will increase because of the exhibitions that are made la this mrseam.
