On the morning of the 14th they came to him at Cape St. James and said that they bad been forced to abandon the ship owing to the sea belag very rough. Witness then sent a tele- gram to the owners stating that the ship was alatal wreck. The behaviour of the European portion of the crew was very sailsfactory, but the Malay seamen and Chinese firemen were worth Jess.
The Chief Officer said that be way navigating the ship up to noon on the zih, and was in his cabin when the ship strack. All hands turned oul and the captain ordered witness to pat off for assistance to a boat to Cape St. James. Belare leaving the ship witness looked below and saw the lowar bold fall of water. The crew behaved very well up to the time he left. Here turned to the ship on the loth. There was no doubt that the ship was a total wreck when he left her finally on the 14th to join the captain al Cape St. James,
Frank Mooney, the third officer, and that he was on watch from 4 to 8 p.m. on the yth, The ship struck at 5.15 p.m. when withers was walking across the bridge; he did not see any shoals or breakers abend. On a prevlace voyage in the Carmarthenshire from Hongkong to Saigons similar course was taken. The wind was moderate at the time the Glamorganshire
struck.
After the shore evidence had been taken the members of the Court retired to consider their finding which was as follows
The steamer Glamorganıktra left. Hoogkong on the 4th March on a voyage to Saigon, That after being inside the Bretto Bank in the after. noon of the 7th inst., the ship struck and remained last. That the water rose to the level of the lower decks and it was evident that nothing could be done to save the ship. The Court is of opinion that no blame can be attached to the master for the casualty. That the ship'appears to have been navigated well, in a proper and seamanlike manner, and the ship was applied with the latest Admiralty chart la which the danger is not marked.
No blame belog attached to the Captain, hie certificate was of course duly returned to him..

Recent Intelligence from Lungchow, one of the Chiness Treaty Parts on the Tockis frontier, indicates that gulla noteworthy amount of progress and development has been effected in that sleeply Kula hollow,

The scene of the catastrophe lies sema Úttie at which Mr. and Mrs A. P. Wood reside, and distance beyond the Shanghat Water Works, who very kindly supplied comforting and much-

A word of praise is due to the officers of a small Chloese gunboat, moored off the scene of the fire, who admitted, primitive and aseless pamps, but who, Tent a party of men ashore with, it must be nevertheless, succeeded in being the first to get water on to the. barning buildings; but the fire was of too great a magolinde to be checked by their strenuous but ineffectast efforts. There were some yoo kands employed at the filature, and of ibusa 100 were at work last night. They will, of course, be thrown out of ers, loyment, ast here is absolutely aathing left of the bulldogs in which they were employed,
Tb. cause of the fire is at present unkaowo, but it is believed to have arisen through the over- heating of a pipe which passed from the engine room up through the drying-room above,
