THE Sydney Evening News says:-The Shipping and Seamen's Amendment Bill kas been paused by the New Zealand Legislature, and further amends the laws relating to ship- ping and seamen. It provides for engineers to be rated as officers, and that the chief engineer should' keep an official log. In addition to the first and second class engineers' certificates of competency, provided for by the principal Act, there shall also be a Bird-clams engineer's certifique. Provision is made for adequate ventilation of engineers' rooma, &c., and seamen engaged in the colony of New Zealand as to

LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC.
The Local Xxamination of the London College of Music commences to-morrow afternoon (Saturday) in the City Hall.
