BOMBAY, August 6th, At the yearly meeting of the Bank of Bombay this afternoon a dividend of so per cent. per sanum was declared, together with a bonus of one per cent, and two lakhs of rupees was added to the reserve fond, bringing the fund up to filty-four lakhs. Disquieting rumours are now current to the effect that a leading Khoja merchant of this city, now on his way to Mecca, ir sald to bave left behind him heavy liabilities, A consider able amount of trust money for charitable Mahomedan Institutions was depaalled with him, and this fact has caused great anxiety and apprehension amongst the Khoja community. Two of the local banks have also advanced him money. One of the banks will be a lover to some extent, but the money advanced by the Bank of Bombay la said to be more than covered by valuable securities deposited with it. Some Mabomedans deposited wish him all their money, and if the collapse of the merchant is unavold- able these people will be ruined.
