THE SANITARY BOARD, A meeling of the Sanitary Board was held this afternoon. Mr. F. A. Cooper (Director of Publie Warks) presided, and there were also present the Vice-President, Dr. P. B. C. CHOLERA IN THE STRAITS BETTLEMENTS. The Colonial Secretary, the Straits Settle ments,
under data 19th August, that reported, the outbreak of cholera at Penang had practically ceased. A slight outbreak had, however, again occurred at Slägapore slace the 8th August, A return was enclosed, showing that there had been 19 cases and 16 deaths during the six days from the 8th to 17th instant,

A Report on Bubonic Plague at Macao during 1395 by the Trincipal Medical Officer of Macas was laid on the table. The report, which is a very lengthy document, deals chiefly with the medical service in Macao during the plague epidemic and it describes many places which in the opinion of the alter and, various other Government officers, who have devoted attention to the sanitary condition of the colony, needed in 1895 Immediate improvement.
