Thesa edes have in most instances been the outcome of long continued endeavours to simplify the use of telegraphy to mercantile regatreumcoil, have been gradually elaborated and increased E, H. FIAT Esq., to meet the business exigencies of each particular firm as these arose, and to adapt the private erdes to the new vocabulary would be's task not €167 of accomplishment. As some of tha cades now to use contain over 300,000 words the anggested number of 256,700 for the vecabulary would be insufficient for the recos
straction of each code.
I
DOW
Aias not been contended that theme of private codes has given rise to difficulter, or la any way relarded the business of the Telegraph" Compaules, therefore the suppression of these e-dei can scarcely have been suggested on public grouadi.
It has not been explicitly shown that the compulsory use of the Official Telegraph Code Vesibulary will facilitate the transmission of messages, but on the other hand there is no doubt that it will cause very serious toss and Inconvenience to all who have private codes.
