Imperial Station-Canada has a large volunteer militla force. By the terms of the Act passed in Marcb 1868 the militia 'consists of mi male British subjects between 18 and 60, whol may he called out to serve in four classes from 30 to 45, unmarried; 318, 18 to 45 married: 4th, 45 to 60. The millia is divided into an active and 2 reserve force. The active Includes the volunteer and the marine milli. The active militia consists of those who voluntarily enlist to serve in the same, or, men balloted, or in part of both. The marino militia is made up of persons whose usual occupation is on salling or steam craft navigating the waters of the Dominion, The active militia serse for three years. The city headquarters, and the rural corps for the same corps are trained for 12 days annually at their period biennially in camps of exercise is their respective districts. Efforts are being made to induce the Government to have the whole force drilled annually. The reserve militia consists of the whole of the men between the ages of 18 and 63 not serving in the active miltis of the time being, with certain exemptions. The number of mes to be drilled annually is limited to 45,000, and the period of drill ts 16 dari every year. The establishment of the active militla for the year "1893-94 amaunted to 33,960 officers and men, comprising 9 regiments, 1 squadron, 3 troops of .cavalry; 1 brigade, 15 batteries of field artfilery: 5 batallons, 9 companies of garrison artillery, 3 companies of engineers, and 92 battalions, 6 companies of infantry. The permanent corps, combined with which are schools of instruction, consists of the Royal Canadian Dragoons (a | trappi), Royal Canadian Artillery (3 batteries) and the Royal Canadian Regiment of Isfantay (4 campantes). The establishment is 10,000 men of all ranks.
