This was a claim for a sum of $340,50 belur amount of money advanced, by the plaintiff, Wan Li-kwan, to the first wife of Merrs, Meyer and Co.'s compradore, Cheang Chalal. The plaintiff also claimed interest on the amount alleged to have been advanced. Mr. J. J. I Francis, Q.C., instructed by Mr. J. Hasting (Mr. V. H. Deacon's office) appeared for the pisinil and Mr. J. G. Phillippo was for the defence.
