In the Queen's Bench Division of the Higi Court of Justice, the above case was tried on the 17th May. In it the plaintiff claimed £13,727 as commission for introducing a proposed gald loan, which the Chinese Government wished to ratze, to the defendants.

Mr, Herbert Reed, QC., and Mr. A. Powell *ppeared for the plaintif ; Mr. Lawson Walton, QC., and Mr. A. M. Bremner for the defendants; Mr. W. R. W. Peel held a "watching bris!" for parties interested, whose names were not mentioned.

Mr. Herbert Reed, Q.C., in mpening the plaintiff's case, said that in the early part of September, 1894, the Chinese Government was proposing to ratin a loan of Li4,000,000.
