Why a sworn reporter could not have been pro cured, to do the clerical work which the Auditor General took upon. himself, we cannot under- stand, except that it ls in accordance with the extraordinary crasa for recrecy which distin gulshes our Government. Surely a reporter sach as we havà indicated would have been as capable of keeping his counsel as any member of the Committee."
