As the colony in general seems to be unaware of what precautions hayo been adopted, we would suggest that they be communicated to the local press, as also any further steps that may from time to time be taken, so that the community may be assured that everything paisible is being done to avert danger of a recurrence of the disease.

In order that you may see how we are placed for news here I send the following summary: which goes to show that the officials in Paring are at their wit's end. On the 13th ist. Li Hang-charg signed a treaty with Ivan, which losisted upon a further secret treaty belog made. was cer firmed by the Emperor. THE CHALLENGE AND POLICE CUPS. A large number of members of the Police Force and the Volunteers turned up at the Palica Range, Kowloon, on Saturday, to compete for the Challenge Cup (handicap) presente:] by Mr. F. H. May. The conditions were seven shots at 300 and 400 yurdu (sighting shit at each range.) Sergt. Lowrie, Field Battery, won the cup with a score of $8-35 at the 500 and 37 at the 400 yards ranges. The Police Cup, which was com peted for at the same time, was carried off by arising 'crack shot, P.C. Macdonald - (73), who made a total of 57.registering 27 at the 300 and 30 at the 400 yards ranges.
