The colony has been enjoying for the last few day a visit from Mrs. Bishop, the well-known writer and courageous traveller who has published many charming works on the lands she has vlubed and studied, under the pseudonym of "Miss Bird," alley bird, she is ever soat- adopted, we suppose, Hike a migratory because, wing, and never seems to show any Ing. eve signs of weariness or lack of interest in the evar changing scenes before her. She le shrewd observer and is endowed with rare des- Hvery criptive powers and many passages in her books are gems of most beautiful and

This lady is. portrayals in many respects, a remarkable woman, not only on account of her literary ability, but also because of her pluck, endurance and unflinching deter mination to see for herself all that is worth seeing in the world. We have often, in or journeyings, crossed her paths and bare bom amured to note what a woman, depending mostly on her own resources and exceptional wit, can suc eed in accomplishing.
