Gato Cardinal improved his position, and along the back straight fed for some distance, Arton being second and Bendigo third, with Volg coming up on the entside. The latter was in front at the Monument, Cardinal being second and Ploneer third. They rushed in this order lato the straight, fairly close together, but pass ing the Bushes Stepaside came out from the cluster with a splendid rush and heading the leaders won amidet great excitement by thies lengths; a good third.
