Sessions, on charges of murder, complicity therein, manslaughter, etc., has ended in the acquittal of both the accused, the case is open to comment, which is undoubtedly called for in the public Interest The facts are very simple, and, up to a certain point, of only too frequent occurrence; the wonder is that such a fatal terminalion is so uncommon.

Wx regret to learn that telegraphic news war received this morning of the death in Londos yesterday of Mr. Ninian Cranford, an old and greatly respected Hoogkong realdent, who was one of the original founders of the well-knews firm of Lane, Crawford & Co., of Hongkong, Shanghal, and Yokohamı. Mr. Ninian Crawford retired from active business in this colony shout 1765 or 1866, but for many years afterwards retained a 1rge Interest to the Impastant mercantile concern which his not inaptly been named "the Whiteley's of the Far East," and paid a lengthy visit to Hong kong, Shanghai, etc, early in 1879. Mr. Craw ford was a thorough man of business, and his noteworthy succent in life was mainly owing to hard work, indomitable perseverance and abilities of so mean order. The deceased gentleman leaves a family, two of his sons being all partners of Lane, Crawlord, & Co, in the Far East-Mr, D. W. Crawford at Shanghai, and Mr. K. F. Crawlord at Yokohama, Mr. N. R. S. Crawford, who will be well remembered as one of the most popular gentlemen riders ever known on the Hongkong race-course, and, whose untimely death in this colony five years ago was universally regretted, was eldest son of the deceased. Mr. Nini Crawford was about 71 years of age.
