Mr. Reynell o Marksman got beat away, but was at once in close attendance, made running at a fast pace. pulled back, and Hard Times, with Brigand covering his first quarter in 30 seconds. The field closed up alter passing the Black Rock, but Hard Times still held a decided advantage, furlongs from home. Once in the straight although it was being gradually decreased, two Democrat, on the outside, and Marksman, on the ralls, came with a wet sail, and the Asoy pony, very well ridden by Mr. Taylor, won good race by a length and a half, Mr. Baxey penalised pony beating Marksman by three parts of a length for second place. THE ALLEGED PERJURY CAST. The Hon. W. M. Goodman (Attorney-General instructed by Mr. A. B. Johnson (Crown Solicitor), conducted the prosecution, and Mr. E. Robinson, astrected by Mr. H. L Deonys, was for the defence.
Mr. Robinson applied to have a point reserved for the Full Court-whether the words assigned la the information as the perjury" were material to any question then pending, the jury having already made up their minds before the defendant's alleged false evidence was taken by the Chief Justice and a jury on a charge of down. At the last Sessions, Lei Kit was tried arson, and Tang Ut Chan gave evidence for the prosecution; the jury stopped the defence by saying they had made up their minds and had
