A strange story is circulated on the streets to the effect that the Rev. Mr. Melg while encamped on Purple Mountain last summer found two golden bens, which he carried off. The Chinese have long been saared that great treasure was thinking that it has been carried away by a foreign. No doubt the hens arelaying golden. kept bit friends in ignorance of his good luck.-N.
