ACCORDING in the Mail several Japanese tea merchants of Vokobema are and to have sustained heavy Frases during the present seaton, which, opening with an unfavourable tone, si remains in state of Insellvily. The total amount of sales up to date shows a decrease of shout one million yes, and no hopes are exter. tained of any animation. Among the unfortunate dealers, Messis. Inamoel and Kashiwap! suffered most severely, and Messrs. Otasi, Sekina Chin j, the Mitsui Bussen Kaisha, and Mr. have also experienced heavy losses.

The Furan correspondent of the Japan Mail writer as follows:On September and there was a great aimorpheric disturbance all over Korea, extending, In fact, to Vladivosteck. At Fusan and Vladivostock the gale was very severe. The barometer at Fosan fell to 29.5 with a rainfall of laches. At Chemulpo and Gensan the wind was of less force, but at the latter place a ralofell of 16 fectes did much damage. Apart from heavy louses among Korean Junks, the rice and bean crops have suffered terribly. In the two southern provinces the force of the wind blighted the rice fields, causing a panic in the rice market, Horsewhere the prices rose $a per koku. Shipments in that staple have been recalled from Japan, and Japanese rice is now being imported. The outlook for the coming year is therefore very gloomy.

Thus our Shangbal, morning contemporary of the 28th alto:Yesterday we printed paragraph recording the death of Crots in H. Vernon Russell, whose body was fourd on the banks of the Missouri River on 15th of August, and there is resson to believe that it referred in an old-time resident of Shanghai Captain H. V. Russell of the Ewo air. Appin, who previously was in the Reval Navy and came nat here in a gun-bost called the Reynaud. He took considerable Interest in sport here, and owned some raCE: ponies. We believe he went home in 1874, and We are informed by a friend who met him some Years later in London, that he was engaged on the Stock Exchange.
