NOTES FROM THE WORLD'S FAIR.

(BY OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

AUDITORIUM HOTEL, Chicago, August 21st, 1893. It is a pity that so wonderfat a construction must soon come to an end, and that the beautiful buildings which are co promiscot a part in its ensemble will have to be taken to pieces and sold sold lumber. As a school of art, and of the highest and greatest of all arts, that of the architect, the World's Fale is unsurpassed. Never before la the history of national and faternational exhibitions has there been auch an endeavour to make the esthetic side the leading feature of the event, and never before have the designers met with such complete success.

Among those who deserve the credit for the matchless beauty of the World's Fair, two names stand forth pre-eminent. They are those of John A. Root and Charles B. Atwood, both citizens of the lake-metropolis. To the former are due the general plan of the grounds, the arrangement of the structures, the general affects, and many suggestions as to the style and pro

Ther whole thing seems like a romance from fairy- land.

It is pleasant in recall that all of this beauty, will not be lost to posterity. The people of Chicago, with customary energy, have deter mined to erect a great muser m in which will be exhibited thousands and tens of thousands of the most interesting objects in the World' Fair, and sise models of its more remarkable constructions. The project is hat a week a d and yet enough subscrip fons have been received building will probably be located upon the Fair grounds and will probably be finished and opened to the public before the end of 1894.
