An extremely simple little invention has just been perfected in Liverpool, says the Yearnal of Commerce, and if the opinions of lis creators, as well as of many competent experts, are to be taken for anything, nothing short of a complete revolution in lamp wicks will be the Immediate result. A small piece of asbestos web is inserted in the end of an ordinary lamp wick for shout three-quarters of an inch, a very small portion of the asbestos web appearing above the wick, and the result of this ridiculously simple arrange ment is to enormously increase the power and usefulness of the wick.
