CIVIL SERVANTI AND SILVER SALARIES.
SIKLA, August 18th,
The orders for the compensation to officers of the Indian Services caused by the fall in ex. change which have been sanctioned by the | Secretary of State, will p wilbly be publlated in the Garette of India to-nght. The concessions will date back to the 1st of April last, and it is believed that officers will be entitled to remit considerable portion of their salarien bame at one and six vence. All family remit. | tance questions, however, will be merged in the orders which are to tune. It is probable that the concessions allowed by the Secretary of State will be equal to nearly a crore of upees. Lord Kimberley's decision amounts practically to a general increase on, it is be lieved, half the uxlarles now drawn by the services. Tre on'eri are èxictly those which were proposed by the Government of Indis. The Government, however, refa eto give informati›n till the rules are efficvilly published.
