FOOCHOW NOTES.

Complaints continue to be received regarding the heavy losses sustained by native cloth manufacturers, owing to the high price of cotton yarn.. Customers will not pay a higher price than they are accustomed to, and make old garments do duty longer. THE Engines of the Chop-change of Wanchal, and are of the Compound Inverted constructed by Messrs. INGLIS & Cylinder Direct Acting Surface Condensing type, Cylinders 201 and 38" dia,, with a stroke of 26,“ The Crank Shaft is 5" dia. at the Crank pin and y" dia, at the Journals, The H.P. Piston Rod is 3" and the L.P. al" dia. The Piston and Connecting Rod bolts are a" dia., Air Pump | 143" dila, by 13 stroke, Single Acting Circulating Food and Bilge Pump (one each) 3′′ dia, by 13” Pump 8" dia. by 13" stroke, and Double Acting

strokico.

These Engines have been very little used and are in thoroughly good order.

The Boller is of the Horisontal Multikubular type, with three Furnaces and vertical Dome on top. Its dia. Is rơit, q" by gft; vo” long, external 1635 measurements; Furnaces, aft. 7" dia; Dome, 44" dia. by 4ft, high : Tubes, 184 in number by 3x dia. It is in fairly good condition, having recently undergone considerable repairs, and would fast in activa service for over five years.

The Ragines and Boller can be inspected on application to the Superintendent at Aberdeen Docks,
