The proposed Kashmir Railway, it is ever to be boilt, will probably follow the route via Abbottabad and the right bank of the Thelurs River to Srinagar. The distance from Kala-Ka- Geral, where it takes off from the North Westera Railway to Srinagar, is just 200 miles. The estimated cost on the broad gauge is a little under 300 lakhs, and on the metre about 245 lakhs, which is such a comparatively small difference, considering the advanta,es of the broad gauge over the latter, that the larger, expenditure should be funlfied. The cast of construction would naturally be borne by the Kashmir State.
