Mr. Taylor has drawn out an excellent programme, and as many of the competitors are clever at the game good sport is bound to result. A piece of ground has been secured at Causeway Bay and assurance is given that everything will be carried out in a straightforward manner and under competent supervision. Boxing tournaments, when run on teglifmate grounds, invariably afford bealthy recreation and they should become exceedingly popular in Hongkong where we have so many Candidates for fistic honors to the Garrison, and not a few to the Navy.
AT Slagapore on the zoth fast two Chinese prisoners managed to escape from the hospital of the criminal prison. The previous day some workmen had been repairing the floor of the Bosnital. When the European warder was relleyed, that morning, it was found the two men had escaped. On inspection being made it was found that the men had lifted part of the flor, brokes through the ventilating partition, and had then gone to shed and taken a plank and some zaping, and by means of these materials made their escape over the sentry wall. Both prisoners are habitual criminals. The Straits Timis reports that one of the escapees, Goh Ah Tye by name, was captured by the Follcs on the following day and was ledged in the Central Police Station. Previous to his being brought before the magistrate, however, it was discover ed, that he had again broken out of prison at the station and had escaped.

In the absence of a catalogue, it is of coursa impossible (without infinitely more trouble that it is worth) to describe the whole of the exhibits: apparently there is not even an inventory kept by these responsible-at least, so the Secretary states. The Orangemen of Ulster- handful of people of foreign origin who have long claimed to dominate the entire Irish nation—are under- stood, by their own statements, to be getting ready at this present moment for a great and honible civil war. Also, the Orangemen of Australia are understood, by their own state- ments, to be quite seriously considering the advisability of sending monetary assistance and men to prop up the gay cause of treason and insurrection. The reason of this movement is the proposal to grant to Ireland something less than one-half the self-governing powers at present enjoyed by the provinces of Australasia. In this matter the Orangeman is unique.
