FROM 1ST FEBRUARY NEXT, the rates for telegrams from Hongkong and the Cable Ports in China, vis-Amsy, Foochow and Shanghai, to Europe and places beyond, sent vis Eastern and Northern, will be charged 15 per cent, additional to cover the heavy loss on Exchange at present incurred by the Com. panies in making their gold outpayments to the Administrations beyond their systems. Thir additional charge will no. at present, be made on telegrams from the Inland Towns to Chin whence the rates to Europe will in the near fature be assimilated with those from the Cable Ports, the Companies having decided to suffer the loss from this source.
The rates to the Philippines, Indo-China, the Straits Settlements, India, Australasia and other places via Eastern, which are also altered from 1st February next,' owing to the confloord depreciation in the vilue of silver, can be ascertained on application at the Companica' Offices.
