The Montlara was built in Singapore, is most solidly constructed of teak throughout, with iron. wood frames, has recently been thoroughly overhauled under experienced European superin tendence, and is now la excellent condition. She is a very fast sailer and a most suitable vessel for the Canton kerosena trade, or would make a first-class lighter.

AS THEY LIE AT ABERDIEN DOCKS;
THE Engines of the Chopcheung were
Eructed by Hearts, INGLES & Co., of Wanchal, and are of the Compound Inverted Cylinder Direct-Acting Surface Condensing type, Cylladers 20 and 38" dia., with a stroke of 26. The Crank Shaft Is 61" dia. at the Crank plu and 7 dia. at the journals. The H.P. Platon Rad is.3" and the LP. 33" dia. The Piston and Connecting Rod belts are a dia., Air Pump 14" dia. by 13 stroke, Single Acting Circulating Pump 8" dia. by 13" stroke, and Double Actinm Feed and Blige Pump (one each)" dia, by 13" stroke.
These Engloes have been very little used and are in thoroughly good order.
The Boller is of the Horizontal Molițubolar type, with three Furnaces and vertical Dome on top. Its dia, le roft, à" by gft. ro" long, external measurements; Furnaces, aft. 7" dla.; Dome, 44" dia. by 4ft. high; Tubes, 184 in number by ex. dia. It is in fairly good condition, having 3 recently undergone considerable repairs, and would last in active service for over five yours,

REPORTS. The British steamship Palinurus reports that she left Swatow on the 16th lastast. Had north- east breezes and clear weather.
The British steamship Canten reports that she left Shanghal on the 14th instant, and Swatow on the 16th. Experienced moderate north-north-west to north-north-east winds with fine weather throughout. On the 16th pissed the steamship Koushing off Chapel Island,
that The British steamship Laeries reports she left Singapore on the 11th Instant. Had moderate south-west winds and fine weather until the moralag of the 15th. On the 15th and 16th had squally weather with heavy rain and variable winds; thence to port hed fine weather, The British steamship Thales reports that she left Taiwanfoo on the 13th instant, Amoy on the 15th, and Swatow on the 16th. From Taiwanfoo to Amoy had strong north-east breeze, high ses and cloudy weather. From Amoy to Swatow had light variable winds and cloudy weather. From Swatow had variable winds and fine weather to port.
