CAPTAIN OSCAR HENDERSON, master of the ship John McLeod, was charged belers Mr. Wode house this morning with assaulting his Chinese cabin servant on the 4th instant. A good daai of evidence was heard, but no absolute proof of assault was forthcoming. The Captain submitted that it was a trumped up charge prompted by the complainant's desire to leave the ship before the expiration of his agreement, in order to evade having and to work off a "dead horse a half months wages advanced. His Wonhlp remanded the case until Monday next and recommended that it be settled out of Court. Jones, an Indian porter in the employ of the Austu Arms Hotel Company, Mrs. Thomas, he said, had lived with Solomon for two and a half years, having one child. The charge brought against her was that of stealing on the 20th utt, from Solomon's premises in Upper Station Street a number of articles, his property, sticks and a couple of suits of prismas. Mr including a trank, two bad sheets, some chop H. L. Dennys defended the Indies, and the Court was crowded. It transpired in evidence that Mrs.

Thomas discarded her lawful husband-about- two years ago in favour of the complainant Solomon, and that on the 19th of Jane she left him and has since "taken up with an indian named Cruz, a clerk employed in the Harbour Office.

Solomon swore an oath that he was aware, of his own knowledge, that Mrs. Thomas WAS on terms of improper intimacy with. Cruz. As to the alleged larceny of Soloman's property, Police Sergeant 66 alated that Mrs. Thomas and her mother Joanella called at West Point Polla Station on Sunday, the goth ultimo, and him to accompany ber to Solomon's house to perty which he (the first complainant) had remove therefrom certain portions of her pro-

It did not appear to him that x larceny was being com mitited.
