Among these were some $5,000 in chits, valueless and irrecoverable. The male of furniture had failed to realise the amount of a bill of sale on it.

Mr. Van Eps put in a claim of $1,400 balance due on a bill of sale for $3,000 given to Jobn Minhinnett.

Mr. Ewens was for the debtor.

The deh or stated that he began business at the hotel in August 1890 with $2,675 capital, of which $1,000 was a loan promised by Miabinzett but not banded over at that time. He had pro- aised $3,000, and had already got an I. O. U. for that, and had handed over $1,000 of it, secured by a bill of sale on furniture. The rest of the money was fent subsequently. In reply to the creditor, the debtor said that of $1,034, which he had put down as good debts, he had only been able to collect $2.75, though he had tried hard for a whole month,
