The men demanded work, and were finally dispersed by the police. The explanation of the demonstration is that nearly all the cork for America is exported raw, and the cork-workers wish the authorities to raise the hope that America would admit handmade cork at a lower duty, and thus give employment to the cork-workers in this city. Yesterday a mob of about 600 cork-workers visited the cork factories and demanded employment, which was refused them.
