ON THE CHOICE OF A WATER. EX

XTRACT from the 'London Medical

corder," May 20th, 1890, by Gro. HERSCHELL, M.D. (Lond.)

In order to attalu the highest success in the treatment of a case by a Natural Water, it in far better to study thoroughly one kind, and master Ita peculiarities, than to experiment with different sorts, cach having a different dose and special attributes of its own.

**The advantages of one mineral water over another may be put under the following heads:---

*1,-Smaliness of dosa.

*2-Absence of unpleasant effect. '3-Sulphates of Soda and Magnesia in nearly equal proportions.

4-Absence of unpleasant taste.

1.

On examining the chief waters on the Eng- lab market with a view of maiding a selection, one is struck with the fact that a newly imported water, the Franz Josef, contains 190 and 178 grains to the pound of Sulphates of Magnesia and Soda respectively. This is much is excess of the guaniles contained by either Hunyadi Janas, Friedrichsball, or Aesculap. It is evi deatly the strongest water by far, whilst at the same time it fortunately happens to be almost fastelars.

Price, cents 50 per bottle; per dozen $5.50. We are sole agents in China for the sale of FRANZ JOSEF WATER. No2, 11 & 14, QUEEN'S ROAD CENTRAL.

Your good friend Stanton is per fectly right and proves that he le entitled to your eulogistic remark of his being an old. expert Cornish miner. He tells the truth when he says that copper ore (chalcopyrite) and tin-ore (stan nite) are found at the inter section of granits and slate strata. He might have gone further and said that lepidopterite (peacock iron ore), mispickel (antimonial ore), horn silver, malachite (green copper ore), azurite (blue copper ore), and cupilte (red copper ore) "are found under the same cir cumstances, as they are in Cornwall, Freiberg, Olkat, Carson, Silverton, Silver City, Butte, City, Anaconda andother famous mining camps. But if you will take the trouble to inquire, the genial Inspector will tell you that when a block of granite appears in the metalliferous veln, he and his colleagués call it a "horte" and never touch it, because as we have explained before it a pare granite and con talas no metal whatever. The sole point in the question is this, viz. is there a'atratum of slate, shale or schist overlying, underlying or intersecting the granite formation of Kowloon? If there be, there may be tin, copper, silver or even gold. If not, there is NOTHING,-thanks to the Inspector all the same.-ED.].
