The advertisement concerning the sale stated only that the property was to be sold by order of the mortgagee, but it might be assumed that this was being done by order of Howqua's agent, Mr. Ewens. Their first prayer, therefore, was that defendants be restrained until after the hearing of the suit from selling or interfering with the property, and their second for the appointment of a manager to collect the rents, which could afterwards be divided, as the Court that it was questionable whether anything could might direct. July 22nd The surprising willingness shown by the mem- bers of the Irish partrin Patament to accept a focal government bill from the Torles, and par- ticularly a bill framed by Secretary Balfour, has furnished political circles with an abundance of material for discussion and comment. Precisely what the bill contemplated by Mr. Balfour will grant to Ireland is, of course, a matter of cou jecture merely, but if it is broadly based on the lines of the English and Scotch Acts, as the Chief Secretary has intimated it will be, the Irish members cannot consistently refuse to support it no matter who may be their leader, It is contended by Conservative members, and admitted by Irish commoners that ireland can- not justly ask for more liberty of action than England and Scotland are content with, and indeed, it has all along been asserted by the Irish members that with the same privileges and the same degree of local government as England and Scotland enjoy, Ireland would be. satisfied. The amazing change of attitude of the Irish members toward the Government party and Igth measure emanating therefrom is the fact that Mr. Farsell is no longer the generally ascribed, and, no doubt rightly, to leader of the Irish party or any considerable portion of it.
