Elleven homes ran in the Derby. The betting at the post was;-claven to ten on Common, ten to one against Dorcas, a hundred to nine against Gouverneur, and fifty to one against Martenhurst. After a mile Gouverneur led, until a quarter of a mile from home, when the race was reduced to a duel between Common and Gouverneur, the former finally winning in a canter by two lengths. Martenhurst was a bad third. Time 2 minutes 56-4/5 seconds.

BERLIN, May 11th, Prince Karl Lichtenstein has just been arrested false pretenses. The complainant is an old man in Vienna on a charge of obtaining money under who has been in the service of the Frince for more than thirty years, and the money represented his savings during that period. The Prince is 64, and is quite an old offender in this kind of wrongdoing. He has intimated his readiness to emigate to America if allowed to escape from the catches of the law.
