PRIVATE G. WALLACE, of the A. and S. High- landers, committed suicide this morning in a sergeant's bunk at Victoria Barracks, by shooting hiraself in the mouth with a Martini-Henri rifle. We don't pretend to answer legal questions in this journal, but can nevertheless inform "Inquirer" that, as we interpret the law on the subject, a man is not liable to prosecution in England for marrying his deceased wife's sister. The penalty is simply deprivation of legal rights. But for the opposition of the mad-headed Bench of Bishops, this ridiculous and utterly meaningless law would have been amended years ago, HONGKONG is not the oply place in the world where severe sentences are the order of the day.
