PARIS, February 27thƐ John Mackay has begun, an action for libel through his Parla solicitors acalmat. Galignant's Messenger. It appears the newspaper published an article charging Mackay with the authorship of cerisin attacks marie against bis own family while residing in London.

The Empress Frederick of Germany left Paris this morning. No unpleasant feature marked her departure. The gravity of the situation, however, can be judged from the fact that, acting under advice from high quarters, the Empress changed her toute for fear of being insulted. It was publicly announced yesterday evening that the Empress Frederick intended to leave for Calais at 11.30 a.m., but she left two hours earlier and was driven rapidly to the Gare du Nord, where she entered the train for Boulogne. The Empress, however, will not embark for England at that port, but will proceed from there to Calais, where the royal yacht is awaiting ber. In spite of the precautions several hundred people were gathered about the Gare du Nord and were civil and quiet, the majority of the men taking off their hats as the Empress passed. There were no insulting cries of any description. Empress Frederick and party arrived at the depot in three landaus. Police officials had taken every precaution to protect the Empress, a body of 500 policemen belag at the depot. The Empress was accompanied by the whole staff of the German Embassy and Count von Munster.

'DOVER, February 27th.

The royal yacht, having on board the Empress Frederick and suite, arrived this afternoon. The Empress was enthusiastically received.

LONDON, February 27th,

The Empress Frederick and suite wern met here by the German Minister and received an

Quite a sensation was caused by the report of a quarrel between the Queen and Prince of Wales at Portsmouth yesterday. It appears that the Prince head, through the Foreign Office alarming accounts of the position of ex-Empress Frederick in Paris. He decided to go and bring her away and wired bis sister to leave immediately if she could not wait for him. He also telegraphed to the Queen. When he joined the Queen at Portsmouth her majesty was greatly excited, and was heard to say to him: "What do you say? Turn my daughter out of Paris?" The Prince replied in a low tone, but the Queen, visibly enraged, repeated that it was impossible that any insult could be offered her daughter in Paris. She blamed the

Prince for his injudicious coarse and threatened

to countermand his telegram. He protested earnesify and finally, the Queen giving ta, et another ciphertelegram to ex-Empress Frederick, expressing his own and Queen's wishes.
