THE Straits Times of the 19th ulto. is our authority for stating that Governor Des Vaux received a telegram, when passing through Singapore the other day, to the effect that Mr. Parnell, while travelling in Ireland, had a bag of lime thrown in his face at bistorical Kilkenny and that he was seriously injured in consequence, but the doctors who were in attendance haped to preserve Mr. Parnell's eyesight. If this is true we wonder the Information has not been cabled [by] Reuter, but we suppose the old lady who manipulates the wires in London was too deeply immersed in meteorological studies, for of late she has devoted all her energies to the task of sending us thrilling accounts of the rise and fall in the temperature, the rain and snow storms, etc., which occur in the British Isles in common with the rest of the world. A peat mortem held on the body by Dr. Marquis revealed the fact that there were marks oftiolence about the body, but in the Doctor's opinion not sufficient to have caused death. From information obtained by the Police it appears that Mr. Kelley had suspended the deceased for a few days, on the roth ulto, owing to the other three coolics refusing to work any longer with him. Nothing more was seen of him until the evening of the same day, when he came to the coolle boute kept by his uncle in Gage Street suffering from bruises about the body, and complained that one of the old coolies and a new one taken on in his place had beaten him, and that he felt very sick.
