One of the fulminate departments of the Union Metallic Cartridge Company was blown up with terrible force at 9 a.m. to-day, causing great constemation among 600 employés in the main factory, George Baker and hi son, Fred W., were employed in the department at the time. The murderer and three children died in great agony and two other children are dying. Physicians say there is no possible chancs of saving them. No reason is known for the crime.

CHICAGO, October 24th.

Six men are in custody on suspicion of having been the murderers of Michael, Brezell, at Des plains Wednesday night. Three of them have proven apparent aliis, and the others claim to know nothing whatever of the affair.

· LONDON, October 25th. The body of the woman found in South Hampstead locality last, night shows the crime bears no resemblance to those committed by "Jack the Ripper." A medical examination proves that the woman did not belong to the Whitechapel class. The body was that of a woman about thirty years of age and well clad, Her throat was cut and ber skull fractured. All her pockets were empty. A perambulator containing a bloodstained fur rug was found near by, and it is supposed was used to convey the body from the spot where the crime was committed to where it was found.

Later.

The body of the murdered woman is that of Mr. Hobbs, wife of a porter. Mrs. Hobbs left' her husband yesterday, taking her child, whom sbe carried in the perambulator found near the place where the body was discovered. The whereabouts of the child is a mystery.

The Irish Catholic clergy here have no know ledge of the report that Cardinal Simeoni, by order of the Pope, has forbidden the bishops of this country to give official or other approval to the O'Brien-Dillon campaign. One prominent priest said it is sure, the Pope is unwilling to form any entangling alliance by interfering with Irish politics. No matter what may be their nationality, the priest was confident the clergy in this country will aid O'Brica and Dillon to the best of their ability, ・

The appai sale of seal-skins held yesterday in London by C. M. Lampson & Co. showed an advance from go to too per cent over the prices of last year. This sale determines the market for the next twelve months. A leading fur dealer in this city says the afvance in prices is some- thing unprecedented. The average advance on Alaska seals was too per cent and on the North- west coast and Copper Island seals so per cent.
