she left Penang on the 14th instant, and Singa pore on the 19th. Had moderate to fresh north- east and northerly winds with head sea through- out the passage..

The British steamship Japan reports that she left Calcutta on the 9th instant, Penang on the 16th, and Singapore on the 19th. After leaving Singapore experienced fine weather up to lat. 20 north; thence had fresh northerly winds and thick cloudy weather. Détained outside on account of fog.

The Japanese steamship Furhiki Maru reports that she left Nagasaki on the 1st instant. Had dull and cloudy weather with rain to Turnabotit; thence had fresh north-east winds and cloudy weather down the coast. Passed a barque, off Single Island, bound south.

The British steamship Phra Chula Chom. Klao reports that she left Bangkok on the 14th instant, and Koh-si-chang on the 18th. Had strong south-east winds with high head sea down the Gulf of Siana; thence to Cape Varella had strong north-east monsoon with head seas; and

The Chinese steainship Kwanglia reports that she left Shanghal on the 22nd instant On leaving Shanghai had fresh easterly winds and thick rainy weather, when off Chinsans, got into a dense fog, and anchored for 6 hours. From Steep Island to Swatow had thick weather and rain; arrived at Swatow at 9.20 a.m., and left again at 4.30 p.m. on the 25th. Had strong east- north-east winds and dull cloudy weather to

arrival.

The British steamship Namoa reports that the left Foochow on the 23rd. instant. Experi enced moderate southerly winds as far as Ockseu; thence to Amoy had fresh north-east winds with thick rainy weather, Left Amoy on the 24th, and Swatow on the 25th. From Amoy to Swatow had strong north-east winds with cloudy weather, and from Swatow to port had fresh east-north-east winds with overcast 'wes- ther. In Amoy, the steamships Hothow, Hai- toong, and Johann, In, Swatow, the steamships Chow-chow-foo, Pakshan, and Cheang Chew.
