While England makes such strenuous efforts to keep Russia from ‘advancing, Russia is still nota whit discouraged or disheartened. Ih, 1882. AN interesting couple were on view for a time to-day in the Central Station charge room. They were Thomas and Maria Cats, and although the Inspector was mysteriously reticent as to the crime which had brought them there we elicited the fact that riotous behaviour had had some thing to do with it. The informer, who was a jealous cousin of Thomas's, having disappeared, however, the charge was not thought sufficiently serious to be sent up, so they were accordingly "alipped.".
Mr. Denison, surveyor, said that last July the defendant contracted to erect the steam round- about for $1,500, by September. He got $500 on account.
