Vernal was a hot favorite.. Norman got best away, but after a few strides. Keep Tryst was driven to the fare and made running next the trails, Vernal lying third and the others in a cluster. Opposite the Stand, the field took cinse arder, but Keep Tryst drew away again at the Bowrington Gate and led a clear length' up to the Rock. Nearing the village Senator came up and was almost on terms at the quarter mile past, the others being now well beaten. A tremendous race ensued all the way home, but Keep Tryst held his own to the end and won a grand race by a head, with Vivid a bad third.

THE absence of local paragraphs to-day must. lis attributed to the utterly-deserted condition of the city.
