The Fisk Jubilee Singers, consisting of ten vocalists, and a planist, was organised in Oct. 1871, from among the students of a Freedmen's School, in Nashville, Tenn., U. S A., and during the first 8 years of their organisation they esta blished Fisk University at Nashville, at a cost of more than £30,000. The Company are now making a trip round the World in their own inter- ests and have recently completed a tour of Aus- tralasia (extending over three years) with unpa- ralleled success. They have just completed a successful tour of India, and are now en route to China and Japan, thence returning to America, via Filsco.

Their programmes are chiefly made up of the unique and Inimitable Slave Songs, or Spirituals, which were composed and sung by the former Slaves of America, prior to emancipa- tion, varied by
