TO-DAY.
THE SHARE MArket.
I' o'clock. Shares business continues quiet, but the tone of the market to-day has been deck- dedly firmer than for some time past. Various stocks have been inquired after and some few
transactions booked.
Banks are fairly firm at 184 per cent. premium, offers to buy at that rate failing to bring sellers to the front. The China and Manila Co.'s scrip has changed | hands at 100, and additional shares could be placed at that quotation. China Sugars are a trifle weaker, shares offering at 204, Punjoms are in demand at from 191 to 20, but there are few (if any) sellers in the market. Sales of the Wharf and Godown Co.'s scrip at 100 have been booked, and there are further buyers. Land Investments have been purchased for cash atfroo, "and shares are wanted for the end of the month at 101. We heard of some small sales of Selamas at 4, but no shares are now obtainable at that price. Nothing else has come under our notice.
