THE SHARE MARKET.

$ o'clock,, There has been a healthier tone in the mirket to-day, although the actual business done has been of little importance. Banks are now much firmier, as after sales at 172 per cent. premium, shares, changed hands at 174 and there are now buyers.at 175. Steamboats have been done at 41 for the end of the month, and are in fairly good demand

Business in Docks was reported early in the day at 68 per cent. premium, but there are plenty It is not very easy to give a correct quotation for China Sugars, sales having been reported at as high as 250 and as low as 240; however, this afternoon there were shares offering for the end of the month at 245, and that figure perhaps may fairly represent the current rate. Punjoms have seemingly come to the end of their downward, course not- withstanding some very palpable efforts on the part of certain amajeur "bears" to get them down to a still-lower figure. All the shares. on offer at 16 have been eager snapped up, and some large Chinese orders have not been filled. Land Investments are asked for at 126, but this stock also has suddenly "braced up" and no shares are obtainable. Other quotations require no special comment.
