5 o'clock, There has been more life in the market to-day than has been the case, for some time past, although no very important tran- sactions have been reported. Early in the forenoon Inquiries were made after Luzons In various directions, and

a small business was done at 112 and 113 | CHINA COAST METEOROLOGICAL for the end of the month. Reports of s probable, "boom" in this stock were current, and the name of a well known large holder of the stock was freely mentioned as the head and front" of the movement. However, nothing sensational reached us up to the time of going to press. Some sales of the China and Manila Steamship Co.'s shares at 137 were arranged, and the Wharf and Godown Co.'s scrip changed hands at 191. Punjoms are offering at 30, but it is hard to say whether many shares would be forthcoming. Nothing else requires special notice.
